Portfolio Program Analyst

TDK Ventures is seeking a deeply technical program manager to support its portfolio of entrepreneurs. Under the direction of the Portfolio Program Team (Director or Associate), the Portfolio Program Analyst will work closely with the TDK Ventures team, to engage with startups all around the world, understand deeply their key technologies and solutions and support exploration of collaborative synergies with TDK teams and assist in program management of projects from start to finish. You will explore, identify, and track mutual value creation between the startups and TDK.

Responsibilities

This position’s responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Support the identification and tracking of potential collaboration opportunities between portfolio startups and TDK’s global business units.
  • Assist in program management of engagements, from initial exploration to follow-through, ensuring that projects progress smoothly.
  • Research and develop knowledge of TDK’s core competencies, businesses, technology roadmap, partnership requirements, and pain points across the various TDK business groups, to aid in identifying value creation synergies between TDK and startups.
  • Collaborate with the Portfolio Program Team to prepare reports, presentations, and briefing updates on portfolio companies for internal teams and the investment committee.
  • Participate in growing strategic partnerships between portfolio companies and TDK teams with timely documentation of project status, next steps and follow-ups to bring highly valued TDK Goodness.
  • Explore business development opportunities and technology infusion between startups and TDK and ensure programs and projects keep moving forward.
  • Document key learnings and apply them to help the team continuously improve the program management process and share best practices with TDK Ventures team
  • Support Portfolio Program Team in other activities as needed

Qualifications

Having a keen sense of curiosity, willingness to learn, collaborative spirit, ability to prioritize tasks, superior time management and being results oriented are critical requirements to succeed in this job. Candidates for this position should also possess the following:

  • 2-5 years of combined experience working in a technical field and or technical program management.
  • A technical degree is required, preferably a Ph.D. or similar in Electrical Engineering with a successful academic and professional track record. (Physics or Materials Science may be considered)
  • Experience in program management, delivering deep-tech solutions
  • Ability to forge partnerships and collaborations between internal networks and external partners and customers inspiring collaboration and teamwork
  • Meticulous attention to detail, analytic ability to document useful insights
  • Ability to distil complex technical information and put it in simple words; excellent analytical, writing, presentation and verbal communication skills in the English language
  • Self-starter personality with superior work ethic, accountability, team mentality and uncompromising personal integrity
  • Capable of working independently as well as within a global team environment collaboratively
  • Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation, including traveling to meet clients or attend events, conducting presentations, engaging in extended periods of communication via phone or video, and using technical tools or software for data analysis and reporting.
  • Must be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while maintaining focus and attention to detail.

Compensation

This position is based in San Jose, CA or Boston, MA and the starting annual base pay range for this role is between USD 105,350 and 140,270.  The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: education, training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, work location, market demands, etc. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. The role may also be eligible for variable bonus programs and benefits.
