Responsibilities

Your role will focus on emerging technologies in advanced manufacturing and robotics, and you’ll have the chance to explore new ideas, develop insights, and help shape the future of deep-tech innovation.
- Conduct deep-dive research on markets and technologies in advanced manufacturing and robotics to identify strategic opportunity spaces and promising startups
- Contribute to building trusted relationships with co-investors, entrepreneurs, and innovation partners
- Help manage deal flow and organize insights in our CRM, tracking founder interactions and next step
- Prepare thoughtful investment proposals, internal briefings, diligence materials and project reviews
- Engage in due diligence for startups including financial modeling, market analysis, IP and technology assessment, and reference calls
- Partner with colleagues across teams to support communication and coordination with startups and TDK stakeholders
- Collaborate in writing compelling investment memos and presentations for internal decision-making and thought leadership
- Support our portfolio companies with meaningful post-investment engagement, from reporting and internal updates to strategic connections and resource sharing
Qualifications

- 1 to 3 years of experience (full-time or part-time) at a startup, in private equity, venture capital, consulting or investment banking
- A Technical Degree is Required: advanced degree (PhD preferred) in a technical field (e.g., Electrical, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science, etc.)
- Demonstrated leadership and hands-on experience in next-generation robotics, automation, or advanced manufacturing projects
- Passionate about helping underrepresented founders scale new manufacturing and robotics technologies that improve the world
- Keen to apply your technical foundation and genuine curiosity, enjoy learning deeply about complex systems, exploring new approaches to manufacturing and automation and thinking holistically about impact, feasibility, commercial viability, scalability, and market impact
- Demonstrates a fast and highly structured approach to problem solving and organizing thoughts which are communicated clearly, concisely, and confidently even in ambiguous scenarios
- Communicate ideas with care and clarity—even when navigating ambiguity or complexity
- Thrive in environments where collaboration, open dialogue, and mutual support are encouraged
- Are organized, proactive, and dependable, with a strong sense of personal integrity
Compensation
This position is based in San Jose, CA and the starting annual base pay for this role is between USD $105,000 and $130,000. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as education, training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, work location, market demands, etc. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified at the Companies discretion. The role may also be eligible for variable bonus programs and benefits.
