Dubai and San Jose, CA – December 2, 2023 – TDK Corporation (TSE: 6762) announced today that its subsidiary, TDK Ventures Inc., has joined Rainforest Partnership in an exploration to help accelerate their meaningful mission to protect the rainforests with solutions from impact-driven entrepreneurs in the tech sector.
The alliance contributes to a global network of organizations united in combating climate change, recognizing the critical role rainforests play in absorbing and storing carbon dioxide to combat climate change.
Rainforest Partnership is an international non-governmental organization whose mission is to protect, stabilize and restore tropical rainforests by partnering with local and indigenous communities as guardians and economic participants while renewing harmony between people and nature.
TDK Ventures invests in global sustainable innovations, scaling impactful solutions to solve the world’s most pressing challenges and improve billions of lives. Since its founding in 2019, the hard tech corporate venture capital firm has focused on bolstering innovation in materials science, energy/power and related areas typically underrepresented in venture capital portfolios.
Paving the way for a truly sustainable future, TDK Ventures has invested in fusion energy startup Type One Energy, grid storage with Peak Energy, water level measurements with Divirod, green hydrogen with Verdagy, cleaner battery processes with AM Batteries, and eVTOL solution Autoflight for possible rainforest tracking and fire-fighting solutions.
“Saving the planet from disastrous climate change requires a holistic range of solutions and alliances,” commented Nicolas Sauvage, President of TDK Ventures. “From venture investment in sustainable technology solutions to front-line protection of the rainforests, we need a concentrated and collaborative effort to approach the climate challenge. Our alliance with Rainforest Partnership aims to help tech entrepreneurs identify equal-win solutions that address our greatest challenges.”
“To protect the future of the world’s rainforests, we need everyone on board — from governments at all levels, to corporations, investors, entrepreneurs, environmental activists, and citizens around the world,” commented Niyanta Spelman, CEO of Rainforest Partnership. “We are thrilled to align with mission-driven investors like TDK Ventures that are using their incredible tech expertise to invest in solutions that further the world’s digital, energy, and environmental transformations.”
The exploration with Rainforest Partnership comes on the heels of TDK Ventures’s second annual Energy Week conference, which assembled more than 20 global leaders in the energy sector alongside academics, professors, entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, and scientists to explore the future of energy and its societal impact.

The organization builds collaborative relationships with rainforest communities as a trusted partner, developing comprehensive, ground-up solutions and economic responses that create effective and long-lasting conservation outcomes. In 2021 alone, RP’s efforts led to the durable protection and restoration of 1.16 million acres of rainforest in Peru, Ecuador and along the Peru-Brazil border. Powered by a powerful and passionate global team that seamlessly blends staff, volunteers, and partners, Rainforest Partnership not only achieves high value outcomes for forests through its own work, but also by its thought leadership that enables others to advance their impact more effectively.
