TDK Ventures is searching for a Technical Analyst to join our Platform team and support our Engagement Team. As a top tier Corporate Venture Capital (CVC), TDK Ventures aims to be a technology thought leader and impact scaler. You will utilize your many years of hands-on and strategic technology development to support our Engagement Team with Technology Explorations between innovative startups and TDK teams all around the world. TDK Ventures’ industry focus areas include Renewable Energy, Materials, Cleantech, Industry 5.0, Mobility, Computing, Connectivity & Healthtech.

The Technical Analyst conducts Technology Explorations to identify potential mutual value creation scenarios with TDK teams to augment collaborations with both TDK Ventures portfolio and non-portfolio companies (“startups”). The Technical Analyst will support the Engagement Team to ensure TDK Ventures brings consistent, visible and appreciated value to startups. This is an exciting opportunity to work with an award-winning, top-tier CVC fund while partnering with early stage deep-tech startups. TDK Ventures continues to pioneer corporate venturing with its “TDK Goodness” to entrepreneurs in the deep-tech space. Currently, TDK Ventures is investing with $200M AUM and is backed by TDK Corporation – a Japanese electronics conglomerate.

Responsibilities

  • Using Agile Methodology to prioritize technology deep-dives, support the Startup Liaison and Portfolio Program teams (the “Engagement Team”) to identify new potential collaborations between TDK technologists and deep-tech startups. Document these technology explorations findings with the goal of strengthening short and long-term tentative synergies plan
  • Augment strategic relationships with internal technology stakeholders, widen understanding of TDK technologies, technology areas of expertise, technology interests and future roadmaps.
  • Dive deeper in strategic technologies to develop public whitepapers and internal TDK Ventures Briefings
  • Review and provide timely inputs to TDK Ventures Portfolio Briefings
  • Deliver regular presentations inside TDK on new technology developments and provide inputs to internal technology leaders to make decisions as to where they might focus their development roadmap or even meet emerging customer challenges

Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in electrical engineering, PhD preferred
  • 5+ years Engineer or R&D experience in the corporate
  • Curiosity, agility, and speed in deep diving between very different technology topics
  • Ability to understand various technologies and value proposition from TDK and startups
  • Proven ability to establish internal networks and knowledge relevant to TDK technologies
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a dynamic, fast paced environment with multiple teams and functions and across multiple projects and different cultures across the world
  • Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills in the English language and ability to articulate insights, concepts and recommendations cogently and concisely
  • Ability to effectively and respectfully communicate across broad levels of people and functional roles including Startup CEOs, CTOs as well as TDK executives and engineering teams
  • Uncompromising work ethic, accountability, and team mindset
  • Reliable and attention to detail with strong desire to always learn
