Responsibilities
The Financial Analyst is responsible for supporting the Finance and Investment Teams with accounting, financial diligence, analysis, and valuation activities across TDK Ventures’ investment lifecycle. This includes assisting in the review of prospective startup financial statements, analyzing portfolio company performance, and contributing to internal fund valuation and reporting processes. The role is key in the investment process, ensuring financial insights and compliance excellence across all investments. This position’s responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Assist the Investment Team in financial due diligence of prospective investments by reviewing company financial statements, forecasts, capitalization tables, and key business metrics across a diverse range of business sectors and types from software, manufacturing, infrastructure, climate tech, advanced materials, clean fuels, battery and storage, etc.
- Develop and maintain financial models that capture stage-appropriate growth dynamics, funding scenarios, and exit pathways for investment considerations.
- Support internal fund valuation activities and have knowledge of International Private Equity and Venture Capital Valuation (IPEV) Guidelines and related best practices.
- Review and analyze portfolio company financial statements on a recurring basis, identifying performance trends, liquidity considerations, and potential risk factors.
- Collaborate with portfolio company finance teams to collect and validate financial data for reporting and valuation purposes.
- Assist in preparing internal financial reports, dashboards, and portfolio KPIs that track fund performance, investment pacing, and portfolio health.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of reporting processes, tools, and templates to enhance insight generation and cross-team visibility.
- Support financial process improvements and knowledge-sharing initiatives across portfolio companies (e.g., financial reporting cadence, budget vs. actuals, KPI dashboards).
- Provide ad hoc support on finance-related topics such as cash runway analysis, grant options, non-dilutive funding, audit readiness, etc.
- Assist portfolio companies in preparing investor or board financial reports to align with CVC and institutional expectations.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of internal and external financial reporting templates and portfolio review processes.
Qualifications

- Bachelor’s and/or master’s degree in finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related quantitative field; CFA or CPA coursework a plus.
- 2–4 years of progressive experience in accounting, finance and payroll in a venture capital, investment banking, corporate finance environment within the technology or hard-tech sectors.
- Strong passion for financial analysis and innovation, loves to uncover and communicate non-obvious insights from complex financial and operational data.
- Hands-on experience with venture and fund modeling, including startup valuation models (e.g., DCF, comparable company, probabilistic scenario, and portfolio-return frameworks such as TVPI, DPI, and IRR).
- Working knowledge of IPEV valuation guidelines and fair-value reporting for venture portfolios under US GAAP and IFRS.
- Experience reviewing startup financial statements and identifying key scale-up drivers such as burn rate, runway, gross margin evolution, and unit economics.
- Proficiency in financial systems and analytics tools, including Excel, PowerPoint, and data dashboards (e.g., Monday.com, Standard Metrics, Pitchbook, or Carta).
- Experience with accounting and payroll systems, such as HFM/SmartView, NetSuite, QuickBooks Online, ADP or similar enterprise platforms.
- High attention to detail and data integrity, with a continuous improvement mindset for reporting, valuation, and performance tracking processes.
- Strong presentation and communication skills, able to distill financial insights and strategic implications for investment teams, portfolio company CFOs, and other stakeholders.
- Collaborative and globally minded team player, comfortable working across time zones and cultures with internal teams, portfolio founders, and external partners.
- Exposure to private equity, venture capital, or CVC ecosystems preferred, especially in technology, energy, or advanced materials sectors.
Compensation
This position is based in San Jose, CA and the starting annual base pay for this role is between USD $100,000 and $130,000. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: education, training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, geography, market demands, etc. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified at the Company’s discretion. The role may also be eligible for variable bonus programs and benefits.
