Portfolio Program Intern (London)

TDK Ventures is seeking a technically motivated intern to support its Portfolio Program Team in fostering partnerships between TDK’s global business units and our portfolio companies. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to transition from academia or research into the venture capital and innovation ecosystem, while leveraging their scientific and technical expertise to explore real-world business applications.

Responsibilities

As a Portfolio Program Intern, you will contribute to partnership development efforts by supporting startup engagement, documenting collaboration opportunities, and helping track value creation across TDK Ventures’ investment areas, including Renewable Energy, Materials Technologies, Cleantech, Mobility, and Industry 5.0.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

Support the Portfolio Program Team in identifying and tracking collaboration opportunities between portfolio startups and TDK’s global business units.

  • Research and document TDK’s core technology areas and assess potential value-add partnerships with startups.
  • Assist in organizing engagement activities, including preparing reports, presentations, and updates for internal stakeholders.
  • Participate in meetings with internal and external partners, taking notes, tracking follow-ups, and contributing insights where applicable.
  • Help capture key learnings and support process improvements to enhance the efficiency of program operations.

WHAT YOU’LL GAIN

Qualifications

WHAT YOU WILL BRING:

  • Recently completed a PhD (or a highly motivated post-master’s student) in engineering, science, or a related technical field.
  • Strong technical breadth and the ability to understand a wide range of deep-tech innovations.
  • Eager to apply scientific training in a business, innovation, or venture capital context.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present technical information clearly.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple tasks in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Self-starter with a collaborative spirit and a strong desire to learn and contribute.
