Ecosystem Associate

TDK Ventures is seeking an entrepreneurial Ecosystem / Portfolio Development Associate to drive strategic growth initiatives, fostering an ecosystem that bridges our portfolio companies with industry-leading enterprises. This role focuses on cultivating and maintaining a robust network of senior executives from Fortune 500, Global 2000, and technology organizations to create impactful introductions, strategic partnerships, and secure advisory input that accelerates the growth of our portfolio companies. Success in this role requires a balance of strategic thinking, technical fluency, and interpersonal skill to engage effectively with executives, portfolio company founders and internal stakeholders, building an ecosystem that supports and amplifies portfolio company growth. This is an opportunity to work with an award-winning, top-tier Corporate Venture Capital fund in Silicon Valley.

Responsibilities

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Build and deepen relationships with C-level executives across energy transformation sectors, expanding and sustaining a robust ecosystem of industry influencers through strategic initiatives organized by industry, role, and geography.
  • Act as a liaison between portfolio companies and ecosystem partners, aligning on product strategies, facilitating customer introductions, and fostering engagement through events, advisory boards, and collaborative research to create mutual value.
  • Research and identify opportunities for portfolio companies to connect with potential customers and partners within the ecosystem network, making timely and relevant introductions to corporate, advisory, and broader ecosystem stakeholders.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor engagement programs that maximize ecosystem value for portfolio companies, measuring success through revenue generation, partnership growth, and overall network activity.
  • Build and maintain metrics, dashboards, and trackers to evaluate program impact, and prepare quarterly “value-add” reports summarizing ecosystem engagements and outcomes.
  • Represent TDK Ventures and its portfolio at major industry events, hosting executive gatherings, participating in forums, and strengthening relationships to expand the ecosystem.
  • Oversee research, planning, and project management for TDK Ventures’ marquee events, including themes, speaker selection, and on-site execution, as well as enhance visibility and brand-building efforts at industry trade shows, events, and conferences.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, corporate leaders, and external partners to align and execute on strategic initiatives, ensuring consistency with TDK Ventures’ mission and vision.
  • Evangelize TDK Ventures by educating partners about the firm’s core values, mission, and vision.
  • Track progress and success of business development introductions, including customers, partners, and advisors.
  • Other tasks or projects assigned to support the success of TDK Ventures’ ecosystem initiatives.

Qualifications

  • An advanced degree is required; in a technical field is preferred.
  • 8+ years of experience in business development, sales, or partnerships within a technology-focused environment, ideally with venture capital or enterprise technology experience.
  • Familiarity with energy transformation technologies, including solar, wind, hydrogen, renewables, grid infrastructure, battery storage, carbon capture, and energy efficiency solutions.
  • Insight into emerging trends such as electrification, decarbonization, distributed energy resources, and the role of AI and IoT in energy management.
  • Proven ability to engage confidently with C-suite leaders and articulate the value of portfolio companies within a dynamic technology ecosystem.
  • Strong networking skills with the ability to establish and maintain internal and external relationships while managing projects effectively.
  • Demonstrated passion for growing the startup ecosystem and fostering community building.
  • Recognized ability to create innovative and scalable business strategies, independently manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-growth environment, and navigate ambiguity while consistently delivering results.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to conceptualize and explain complex subjects to diverse audiences in English.
  • Meticulous attention to detail, excellent project management, organization and multitasking ability
  • Personable and engaging personality, with the capability to communicate effectively across various levels, including startup executives, TDK leadership, and engineering teams.
  • Enjoy building repeatable and scalable systems and processes while valuing human connection as the cornerstone of effective ecosystems.
  • Highly proficient in PowerPoint, Excel, and other relevant tools, with enthusiasm for adopting new technologies, such as Generative AI, to improve efficiency.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit with a willingness to do things differently, comfortable being part of a lean team, adapting quickly, and taking on diverse responsibilities.

Compensation

  • This position is based in San Jose, CA and the annualized pay range for this role is between USD $110,700 and $160,400. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: education, training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, geography, market demands, etc. The pay range is subject to change and may be modified at the Companies discretion. The role may also be eligible for variable bonus programs and benefits.
